What to Wear to a Casual Outdoor Fall Wedding

A wedding is one of the biggest events that happens in a person’s life. So much time, effort, and planning goes into creating the special moments of that one day and if you’ve been invited to a wedding, then you are going to be part of those moments! They will be immortalized forever in photos, videos, and in memories, so you want to make sure you look good in each one. Dressing for a wedding can be a bit tricky since it’s not just any other formal occasion. There is an art to it and some important guidelines you should follow.

Do: Follow the Dress Code

Just like relationships, not all weddings are created equal. Some are more formal whereas others are pretty casual. Generally, the dress code for the wedding will match the personality of those getting married (unless their parents got involved). Make sure to pay attention to the dress code when deciding what to wear so that you’re not overdressed or underdressed for the occasion. Unless it specifically says no wedding ties, then you should almost always wear some sort of tie to a wedding.

Don’t: Forget About Color

Every wedding has a color pallet and theme that the entire wedding has been designed around – from the flowers to the cake to the gowns. Try to match and blend with this color pallet, or at the very least, complement it. There are some colors that just don’t go well together, and you don’t want to be the only person at the wedding wearing an ugly color and sticking out like a sore thumb.

Do: Look At The Location

This goes hand in hand with the dress code. You want to make sure that you take into consideration the location of the wedding too when picking what to wear. If you’re going to be outside or at the beach, this might mean you want to wear more earthy colors or fabrics that are more conducive for a more natural environment.

Don’t: Forget To Check The Weather

There’s nothing worse than being dressed in your best and being uncomfortable. Make sure you check the weather on the day of the wedding for the location where the wedding is going to take place. This will allow you to plan properly based on the temperature or even the possibility of rain. If it’s going to be hot, you probably don’t want to wear that wool suit. Whereas, if it’s going to be cold, you’ll want to make sure to also bring an appropriate jacket to keep you warm, especially if it’s an outdoor ceremony.

Don’t: Wear White

This should be a no-brainer, but is something to be said anyway. The only person who should be wearing white at the wedding is the bride. While this is more of a concern for women so that they don’t wear a white dress, you should also try to minimize the amount of white in your suit or dress shirt as well (unless it’s a super formal occasion where white would be required).
