CHEF´S CORNER

Nick PhelpsWelcome all to the first installment of the Commonwealth Lounge Chef’s Corner! Oh how long it has been since I was able to sit down and write to you about what is new in the restaurant world. Specifically restaurants in Fullerton, CA. Even more specifically, The Commonwealth Lounge & Grill! Well, let me tell ya’ll. Our amazing new website is the latest addition to the Commonwealth Lounge & Grill. We have posted everything from live musical events, to our delicious seasonal dining menu, to our upcoming 2 year anniversary themed “80’s Prom Nite” ( like totally, I know, right?!) It is all so very exciting for us.

Even more exciting is our new menu slated to arrive around the beginning of July. We have always strived to bring some new and interesting items that can’t really be found in or around the Fullerton area. Some old school dishes with a little twist to make them fun and interesting again. Take for example the new Aztec Chicken Salad with mango, avocado, fried banana, pepitas, grilled chicken, and toasted coconut served over spring greens with a cilantro lime vinaigrette. Yummy huh? Or the new McGregor’s Garden Dip with fresh pieces of toasted rustic poppyseed onion bread! (“You’d be best to stay out of McGregor’s garden!”) Fairy tails, fairy tails. My personal new favorite is the maple basted center cut prime pork chop served with a sweet and savory apple sauce, gorgonzola mashed potato and grilled asparagus. Reminds me of Vermont, though I have not been there in years. And finally, we have heeded the call for something lighter, fruitier, and WITHOUT CHOCOLATE!!! Introducing the newest member to our dessert menu, the Crème Brule! Always changing and never boring!

As some of you may know, this is usually the space I leave to air my qualms, toss out some adages, or create some new form of ism. Well, I won’t do that to you this time. But be warned.

Soak your beans,

Nick Phelps
